ANTOINE-MUSANGANYA THE TRIAL OF JOSEPH KABILA KABANGE AT THE KINSHASA MILITARY COURT AND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF REPUBLICAN ORDER IN THE DRC July 30, 2025 The Congolese parliament, sitting in an extraordinary session, lifted the immunity of former Congolese President Joseph KABILA KABANGE, suspected of being the moral authority of the M23 rebel movement, which is waging a civil war against the Congolese state. The movement is accused of violating the Nairobi and Lusaka agreements that led to the end of the war in 2012, when the same rebel faction conquered the city of Goma and the Congolese territories in the east of the country. A trial against former Congolese President Joseph KABILA KABANGE has opened before the Kinshasa military court. The former Congolese president is accused of supporting the March 23 Movement, a rebel movement, and of taking part in an insurrection and attempted overthrow of power.
